45th Annual Marietta Candlelight Tour of Homes

Hello Bloggers!
Well as promised I have some pictures of the house tour I went on this past Sunday. I must tell you that if you live close enough to attend this tour, it is well worth the trip! You won't be disappointed! I have gone on this tour every year for about 10 years and I wouldn't miss it for anything! Marietta is located along the Susquehanna river just off RT 441 between Middletown and Columbia. (It's midway between Harrisburg and Lancaster) Marietta is a very old town(early 1700"s) there are some absolutely beautiful homes in the town and lots of Bed and Breakfast. Anyway here are a few pics. I always take a lot of pictures of the doors that are decorated. They have a contest in town for the best door decorations.

Love this railing planter.
This picture isn't great but I love this table!
Table display in one of the homes.
This home always has the nicest window boxes every year!
Love this door!
This is a home along Front Street, the oldest section of town. The doors are always decorated great!
This is the Union Meeting House  built in 1818. They have table displays inside that you can vote for the best one.
Table display I voted the best!Done by American Family Weavers.
Tombstones in the front of the Meeting house. The earliest one I could read was 1842.

Civil war Union Forces camping and recruitment in front of the Old Town Hall.
There are horse drawn carriage rides. There are also people walking around town in 1800's period dress.
That's it! I love this tour!
You can check out their web site .

You can see more pictures at my picturetrail site, http://www.picturtrail.com/oldecrowmercantile

My family went to New York city last Saturday. We had a great time. I love the city! Here are a few pics.
This is Macy's! Of course it's my favorite store!

Times Square! Not nearly as crowded as last year
                                                       when we were here.

Naked Cowboy in Times Square! This is the first time I have ever seen
him there! He's not really naked...has tightie whities on!

We did the Top of the Rock tour. This is from the deck of
Rockefeller Center. The city is absolutely beautiful at night.
It's very creepy being up this high! I don't like heights!

This Sunday is my annual trip to Marietta PA for their Candlelight House tour.
This is the most fantastic house tour you can imagine!! I will post some pics next
week.

That's about all from my little corner of Central PA.
Stay warm!

Hello bloggers!

I guess Im not a very good blogger, since I haven't posted in a while! I have really been busy trying to get ready for a craft show in November. I just have not been motivated at all to make anything. So, I am forcing myself  to get started! I have made several dolls so far, and a few more in the works. I'll post some pictures when they are all completed. My partner Lisa is also in the same crafting "rut " as me, so we are a good pair! LOL I work best under pressure anyway, so hopefully we will be ready by November 6! It is really, really, raining here today, so this will be a perfect day to lock myself in the sewing room a sew, sew, sew!

There is a great giveaway over on The Rusty Thimble!! Just the cutest Snowman makedo!(I love anything snowman!) So click on the link to sign up for her giveaway ( but, I hope I win...... he he!)

Heaven on Earth!

Hello Bloggers!

I finally have gotten around to posting. I have been downloading some pictures from the beach to my computer. I thought I would share some with you. I love the beach soooooo much! I never want to come home. I would be truly happy to live there year round. I am trying to convince my hubster that it would be a good idea. He is now retired and we have no ties to this area,so what's the problem? LOL

Sunrise!
 The sunrise is my favorite......Enjoy!

ROAD TRIP!

Hey Bloggers!

Yesterday was a really fun day! My partner Lisa and I headed down to Hershey for the quilt show. Kinda disappointed. Not a whole lot of new stuff there. Not as many attendees as previous years. Still we managed to spend some money! I bought a pinkeep pattern from Annies Heirllooms, Pattern for 12 different table runners (snowman runner is too cute). Bought 2 yds of Three Stooges fabric! I hate them, but my son loves them and it will make a nice quilt for him..

Left the show and headed down the road to Lancaster. Stopped at AT Imports and picked up some wonderful smelling candles (Crossroads Candles). Went into Keystone Wholesale. Bought a new peg shelf. This place has really nice prim stuff!

Left there and went to CDM Wholesale. Bought some jewelry pieces and some baskets. Left there headed to Morgantown PA to Hayloft fabrics. This is a great store ,but I couldn't find the exact fabric I was looking for. OH! Before we went to Hayloft , we spotted a Wool Shop!! WOO HOO! I did a U-Turn and we hit this place. WOW! Beautiful yarns all over the place! Upstairs was the hooking section |(be still my heart!) Beautiful wools and a whole room of hand dyed wool! We will definitely make a trip back there . I spent a nice chunk of change in about 15 minutes!

Had dinner and then headed home. Boy was I tired! But I really love road trips!

Doll Giveaway over at Sweet Meadows Farm Blog

Boy, this has been a busy, busy week! I am having my living room and upstairs hallway floors done over. Workmen have been here all week putting hardwood flooring in the living room and uptairs hallway. I also am having oak stair treads put in to replace the ones under the carpet. I hate carpet and ever since we built this house,I have regretted not having wood floors in those two areas. Its turing out just beautiful and I will post pictures when everything is finished.

One of my favorite blogs is Sweet Meadows Farms. I love her patterns soooooo much. Anyway, she just completed her 100th pattern ( I already ordered it!)And she is having a contest! She is giving away one of the new dollies from that pattern! So rush over and take a peek!
